This course will be held at Lúz Studio.
Course Level - L2 + (skill level details)
This workshop is for students who have some experience with lighting but would like to gain more control and learn to modify their lighting “on the cheap!”
Before you go out and buy expensive lighting equipment, try this one-day workshop with Troy (Vogue, Rolling Stone) to learn how to create beautiful lighting using lighting sources such as fluorescent, tungsten and window light (free!) and using light modifiers like reflectors, diffusers, scrims, black cards and even beauty dishes. You may not need to spend the big bucks after you master these tricks!
What to bring
- DSLR camera, all of your lenses (Troy usually works with 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm).
- a bunch of CF / SD cards, batteries, etc... Come prepared to shoot a lot. Everyone should leave with at least a couple gigs of photos.
- note pad / pen, as there will be lots of technical jargon that is best written down. You are welcome to bring an audio recorder, but please keep the recordings to yourself and not the world-wide-web.
Workshops will be situated around coffee shops and restaurants, but you are also welcome to carry you own lunch. (There will be a one-hour lunch break).
You are also welcome to bring your portfolio / images. Troy will carry his portfolio to all workshops and will quite often finish the workshops with a show&tell-type discussion.
REGISTER ONLINE
Enrolment - limit of 10 participants.
The Biography of Troy Moth
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, I grew up tree-planting with my parents while living in a tent. I am a nature boy by heart but am always working in big cities. I moved east from the Island to the big city, where I did a few years of college for business and photography. From there, I spent a couple years assisting the top photographers in Canada. I learned the ins and outs of the industry this way.
I eventually broke free of the assisting routine and stepped into the real world of photography. I had a studio based out of Toronto but was thinking on a global scale. I found an opportunity in India to work and have spent a lot of time in Mumbai (Bombay) where I've shot for some great magazines like Vogue and Rolling Stone.
There are some awards kicking around the studio, plus a large collection of polaroid cameras. In-between shooting I like to travel and climb mountains. And I love pomegranates.
Photography has given me so much. The workshops are my way of giving back.
