Our newly expanded Photo School, for Beginners with Quinton Gordon will give you the ABCs of photography from basic camera techniques to creative seeing. Designed for new photographers using digital equipment, this 5-session intensive course will focus on the basics of camera operation, exposure, depth of field, digital file management, composition and workflow.
Through a combination of in class sessions, group discussions, assignments and a Saturday field trip, we will get you comfortable with your camera, help you establish your digital workflow and offer you tips on expanding your creative potential.
Learning objectives:
- Effective camera operation and set-up for working quickly.
- Determining exposure for digital image files and reading histogram information.
- Understanding the creative controls of Aperture (Depth of Field) and Shutter Speed (Motion)
- Developing an effective digital workflow for editing, archiving and printing your images.
- Making more creative images and exploring your creative potential.
What you should bring:
- Camera, memory cards or film
- Any lenses you may have
- Manuals, if you have one for your camera
Participants should come prepared to shoot approximately 3 rolls of colour print film, or similar amount of digital capture.
