DAVID ON KODACHROME | "As I try to maintain a sense of balance in this present age of speed and instant gratification, I incorporate within my photographs a elements of classic craftmanship and heritage that reference our slower paced past, personally and professionally looking for equilibrium between the two. When approached by Luz Gallery, I could not help but be a part of this project concerning the decline of the tirelessly classic Kodachrome film and this situation's comment on our relentless technological progress."
David Ellingsen's award winning photographs have been exhibited in Canada, the USA, Asia and Europe with two solo exhibitions in the US and the attendance as a guest artist at the Lishui International Photography Festival in China being recent highlights. In tandem with his fine art work David also accepts commercial assignments with a strong focus on contemporary portraiture and advertising. Clients include the New York Times Magazine, Marie Claire, CBC Canada, MTV/Nickelodeon, BC Place Stadium and BC Hydro. David lives in Vancouver, Canada.

(in your email include your name, phone number & bid)Quinton on Kodachrome | Few early memories are as significant for me as that of opening those little yellow boxes of freshly mounted Kodachrome slides; it was more magical then Christmas. At age 15, when I first took up camera work in a serious way, Kodachrome was a stern but deeply rewarding teacher of exposure and light when I started making photographs with my dad's Konica FP, a simple SLR with no light meter, and I ultimately credit Kodachrome with teaching me photography.

(in your email include your name, phone number & bid)“All my life I have been in love with colours, and the colour photograph. Kodachrome in Bloom was a chance to explore colour with a fondly remembered medium, the storied Kodachrome 64 colour slide film. For this picture the purple asters are only millimetres from the front of a bright, ultra wide lens, macro turned on its head, as it were.”
Jim Mckenna is a Victoria-based photographer who specializes in landscapes, portraits and architecture, all shot with the physical print in mind. Aside from the west coast of Canada his work has taken him to the Canadian Maritimes to search out iconic east coast lighthouses, and frequently to the islands of Hawaii finding the places few others go.
