$225.00

This course will be held at Lúz.
Course Level - L2 + (skill level details)

Through creative exercises, critique sessions, photographic projects, discussions, image editing and sequencing, we will explore the path to your vision as an author within the visual arts. Together, we will build on defining your photographic voice in ways that push beyond the boundaries of single image making and preconceptions about our individual creative process. We will concentrate on letting go of "what we know" and focus on emotion creative space and narrative rather than the mechanics of picture making.

It is my hope that you will come away from this workshop changed in how you view your own photography and with a clearer understanding of who you are as an author and creator.

The workshop begins with exercises that are designed to shake up your preconceptions about image making and to open up your own creative process to fresh new possibilities. From here we will incorporate a group discussion around the contemporary state of image making and follow this with discussions of each participants work. The goal of these discussions is not to judge the quality or validity of your images, but rather to facilitate an understanding of where each person is as an image-maker and then shift gears as we move beyond the limitations of our established expectations.

During the workshop we will spend time doing some challenging and unexpected exercises as well as discussing and reviewing pictures. Each participant will independently tackle personal photographic assignments and  subjects with no predetermined agenda or goal.

This course is about personal discovery and growth through hard work, collegial discussions and playful exploration in image making, it is vital to come with an open mind and the willingness to be surprised. I can assure you that everyone walks away with a handful of new tools, and that each person will have to discover for themselves how to use these new tools, and what the outcome of the class is for them personally and creatively over time.
