Sensing Spirit is a collection of images that step beyond rational identification of the subject matter and into the realm of inner experience. What is the creative essence that animates all life - can this be depicted through photography? With this collection I use horticulture as a leaping off point. I am interested in creating images that speak at once to our inner selves as much as to outer beauty. Beauty is a mixture of the sensual and the spiritual - what is the quality of a flower that taps into our spirit and touches us ?
With this work, I am exploring this inner / outer sensibility. It may be possible for others to recognize a similar experience while viewing the work. The discoveries we make are the true subject of the photographs.

BIOGRAPHY
Allan brings the understanding of garden as art and spiritual evocation into his work as a garden photographer. His images have been published internationally for the past seventeen years. He has received six photography awards from the Garden Writers Association and his work is featured in over sixty books including six as sole photographer. He lives now in Victoria BC.
